Toni T-Shakir

Toni, author and co-CEO of Shakir Publishing, is a Jamaican native who grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California, subsequently migrating to Los Angeles. She is an avid reader who acquired the love for writing at a young age. 

Shakir Publishing is the culmination of Toni’s dream of bringing awareness to critical stories throughout the world and being a voice for those who are often unheard. She has recently ventured into the film industry as a producer on the film adaptation of Land Of No Pity. 

Toni’s debut novel, Land Of No Pity, introduced the world to her ground-breaking style of storytelling, that entrenched the mainstream into the gritty gang culture of South Central Los Angeles in a qualitative and poignant way. Her follow-up sequel, Land Of No Pity II: The Lost Generation, is the long awaited continuation of the saga readers have been highly anticipating.

Asim Jamal Shakir Jr.

Asim, b.k.a. Jamal, is a native of Los Angeles and co-CEO of Shakir Publishing. He’s a multitalented director, cinematographer, and photographer. He started his film career doing freelance gigs in commercials and music videos for such notable artists as Meek Mill, T.I., Young Thug, and more. In 2019, Jamal wrote, directed, and executive produced the film adaptation of Land Of No Pity, which will be a tv series in 2021. He is currently working on his latest project, Lynched By Treason, which he also created and wrote. It is in the pre-production stage. 

In 2020, Jamal opened Goin’ Postal Candy, a trendy postal, shipping, and retail store in Los Angeles. He plans to franchise his new venture nationally.
